Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has firmly reiterated that Estêvão is an essential figure in the club’s plans, dismissing speculation regarding the teenager's standing in the squad. Despite experiencing limited Premier League playing time during the opening stages of the current season, the 19-year-old winger retains the total support of his manager as he continues his rapid adaptation to English football.
Alonso emphasized that he counts on the young Brazilian “100%,” pointing directly to his vast potential and youth as key factors in his ongoing development. While match minutes have been restricted, the Spanish manager expressed complete satisfaction with the player's application, praising his daily commitment and work rate in training sessions. According to Alonso, Estêvão remains fully engaged with the squad, maintaining an outstanding attitude and demonstrating that he is physically and mentally ready whenever called upon.
The manager also highlighted Estêvão’s recent performance as a substitute against Arsenal, where the attacker made a notable impact on the pitch and created a prime scoring opportunity during his time on the field. Addressing circulating reports suggesting the player is unhappy with his role, Alonso noted that a lengthy campaign lies ahead and stressed that opportunities will naturally arise for squad members who consistently demonstrate hunger and determination.
Refusing to detail internal discussions, Alonso stated that direct conversations held with the winger will remain private. However, he reaffirmed that Estêvão possesses the appropriate mindset and remains an integrated, highly valued member of the first-team environment as Chelsea progress through their fixtures.
